Serbest Defter is a simple personal blog. The site uses minor technical features such as a view counter, total visitor counter, theme preference, reaction system, and a financial disclaimer. The purpose of this page is to clearly explain what these features do and do not do.

What data is used?

The site makes technical requests through the Cloudflare infrastructure to show how many times articles have been read and how many total visits the site has received. This data is used to understand which posts receive more interest and to display a simple counter to the reader.

The purpose of this is not to build personal tracking profiles, target ads, or track visitors across different websites. Serbest Defter does not use any ad networks, third-party marketing pixels, or behavioral targeting systems.

Are IP addresses stored?

Raw IP addresses are not intentionally stored. For the daily counter and legal disclaimer verification, IP information is converted into a technical value hashed using a daily key mechanism. This value is used to prevent the same visitor from repeatedly inflating the counter or seeing the financial disclaimer multiple times within the same Turkey calendar day.

The goal of this approach is not to identify individuals, but to distinguish recurring daily actions. Daily checks are based on Turkey time, with the start of a new day marked after 00:01. This allows the counter and disclaimer systems to reset and operate each day.

Use of LocalStorage

The browser’s localStorage area may be used to store small preference details on your device. This information remains within the site and is managed by the browser.

Remembering theme preferences: light/dark theme.
Remembering article reactions: showing the reaction given to the same article.
Keeping track of the daily acceptance status when the API for the financial disclaimer is unreachable.

This information is not used for advertising or third-party tracking purposes. If you clear your browser data, your theme, reaction, or disclaimer acceptance preferences may be reset.

Cloudflare infrastructure

The site is published on Cloudflare Pages. The counter, reaction, and disclaimer systems operate using Cloudflare Pages Functions and a KV-like storage mechanism. This technical infrastructure is utilized to add minor dynamic features without disrupting the static structure of the blog.

Cloudflare may process certain technical data as part of its own service security, network protection, and infrastructure logs. This is separate from the counter/reaction data directly maintained by Serbest Defter. On Serbest Defter’s end, the sole purpose is to keep site functions running smoothly and provide a better experience for the reader.

At this stage, Serbest Defter does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics suites. Preferences such as themes and reactions are stored using localStorage instead of cookies. Therefore, there is no cookie structure that performs advertising tracking in the traditional sense.
